Boomrock has developed “The Bunkers” in association with Beretta, three five-stand sporting clay fields for corporate clients and shooting enthusiasts. Located south of the Lodge and set amongst tranquil native bush, the club rooms overlook the Cook Strait towards the South Island.

Guests will experience a variation of clay targets from the eighteen hidden traps. Each field offers a completely different shooting experience from simulated duck, driven pheasant to driven grouse.

Shooting can be easily adjusted from beginner through to competition level and tuition is available from our shooting instructors. We have a range of sample packages (based on 20 guests), each designed to suit the time you have available, your budget and your catering requirements.

So named after the bunkers which were once overnight camps (bivouacs), used by the homeguard back in 1941 on the Ohariu coast, to keep an eye out for enemy ships coming through the Cook Strait. An arsenal of rocks was collected on the cliff top to roll down on invaders, and the few reject army rifles with ten rounds per man gave little cause for optimism.
